Story Time

So, from last post to now a whole lot as happened, and with everything the way it is, it make me want to tell a story.  Sit back, relax and enjoy this tale of mine.

Imagine there is a man.  This man dated a woman.  This woman planned a surprise visit (she lived an hour or so away) on the man’s birthday.  The man had went through some hard times and was briefly staying with his parents.  The man’s mother wasn’t fond of the man’s girlfriend because her outward appearance was unconventional.  The man loved the woman for her, her appearance doesn’t mean a lot to him, although she was beautiful.  The man’s mother thought it was very forward for the lady to show up, although she had already discussed it with the woman, and the man’s sister.  They knew, it wasn’t a surprise to them.  It was one of the best birthdays I’ve ever had.  The man’s mother decided to judge her without knowing everything about her and hearing her past, judged her on who she was, not who she is.  She isn’t the person she was, and the man isn’t the person he was, which for a very long time wasn’t in a good place.  Both the man and woman had pasts they weren’t proud of, but they did not let that define who they were now.

The man and woman had fallen deeply in love, and after a few months decided to move in together.  They found a place that would fit the woman’s children and the men’s children, as best as their budget would allow.  After another few months, keep in mind that the mans mother disliked the woman so bad, she did not want her or her children in her house.  It was very silly.

A few months later, the woman got pregnant.  The man wanted to avoid the drama of his mother’s reaction, so he chose not to tell her.  The man and woman were very happy, but she did not like the secrecy, and rightfully so.  Fast forward nine weeks, and they went to a doctor’s appointment.  The man and woman looked at the ultrasound screen in terror.  The doctor came in.  He informed that, yes, our baby was dead.  The precious life that they created was now in heaven.  It was too much for both of them.  They did not know how to react.  The woman decided to leave, go back to what she left before she met the man.  The man tried to find love, but he knew in his heart he still loved the woman.

A couple of months had went by, and things were bad enough that the woman realized, as she did when she left that she loved the man more than anything, and wanted to spend her life with him, and no other man.  The man left his girlfriend, the woman left the other man, and they reunited.  The mans mother still did not like the woman.  The man’s mother still had not tried to get to know the woman.  The future for the man and woman is solid, they know what they want and they deal with people naysaying on a regular basis.  They have hurt some people along the way, and they are not unfeeling towards what they have done.  They regret some actions, but they are working to rebuild some of the trust they lost during that time.  They are willing to prove their love, they do plan to spend the rest of their life together.  The man is upset with his mother, but his ex-wife is harassing him as well.

The man’s ex-wife, who has since remarried, to the boy that she cheated on the man with, has now stuck her nose into the man’s business.  She says she doesn’t want the children that they had together to be around the woman.  The ex-wife is upset because when she was married to the man, she could control him, as she is a very, very controlling person.  Now that she can’t control the man, it frustrates her to no end, so she tries to use their children as a tool to hurt him.  She doesn’t want their children around the woman, but she has never sat down and talked with her, she is judging only appearance.  The ex-wife is petty and a fool.  The ex-wife has no say on this and it is driving her to the point of calling the man and spending 5 minutes or so screaming and cursing at the top of her lungs at him. The man is not afraid of her, because she is a small person, and small people think only of themselves.

The man and the woman are happy.  All of their children are happy.  They are safe.  They are home.  The man loves the woman, and the woman loves the man.  There love is never ending but forever growing.  No matter what anyone says, they know that together they are stronger that their struggles.

End of Story, for now...

Sorry for the length on this post, but take what you will from this post, that’s all i can say.

Until next time, dear readers...

All Apologies

So, a lot of things have transpired since my last post.  I’ve made people mad, and I’ve made people happy, and I’ve came to the same conclusion that many people already have.  You can’t please everyone, and if you do, you are lying to them or to yourself.

I’ve never in my life set out to hurt anyone.  I’m not that type of person.  I have however, ended up hurting some people, and I will be eternally sorry for that.

In the end, you have to do what you feel is right in your heart.  You may make people mad when you do something that is right for you, and although that is horrible, again, you have to do what you feel is right for you,

So, you might notice the new website address.   I’ve been changing a few things, and this is one of them, the site is now mytypographything.com, since it has expanded beyond just a normal blog.

To those I’ve hurt, please know that it was never my intention, and that I do care for you deeply.  To those who are in my life, making me happy, thank you.  I haven’t really been this happy for some time, and it’s an amazing feeling.

A Long, Long Time Ago, in a Galaxy Far, Far...

So, it’s been a few days since my last post.  A lot has happened.  I’ve been busy, and I mean busy. Between work, kids, gym, personal training, and personal stuff, I’ve had about 10 minutes of “free” time (which is spent washing dishes).  I’ve gotten a whole lot of feedback on my last post.  The majority of it was positive, but some of the negative ones are sticking with me, which provided me with an epiphany.

In life (in general), the negative things tend to stick better in our memory.  This is because they hit on our emotions and insecurities more so than positive things.  It’s normal.   Think about your childhood, you will remember good things (I hope you do), and you will remember bad things (I know you will), and sometimes the scales are tipped a little unfairly.  Sometimes we get stuck on fixing the negative and ignore maintaining the positive.  It’s all about changing your mindset, and it’s not an easy task by any stretch.

Ok, so, just some little notes here...

As I’m sure you remember, I’ve been looking to get sponsored as an athletic performer, and I’ve had some interest, and some success.  Saying too much will obviously jinx it, so, that’s about as clear\vague as I’m going to get at this point.  I’m still getting closer to getting my personal trainer certification, and when I have some extra money laying around, I’ll pay for the certification exam and go from there.

Right now, I’m really busy, which is probably a good thing, but it does cut out time for some things, and I’m trying to juggle my schedule to make sure I can get to those things.  It’s a hectic time, but I must absolutely say that I am extremely grateful for everyone in my life, and to you reading this (yes, you!) I am very grateful for you too.

Now, my podcast is going well, listener base is starting to rise slowly, but it is rising, comments and questions are coming in, and I love it!  Good or bad, let me know what you think, ask me anything, ands I will answer, unless it’s of a personal matter.  Also, for you Apple listeners, it should show up in the apple podcast app shortly, I know that will make a few of you very happy, lol.

As always, I strongly encourage you to ask me questions, give me feedback or just say hi.  I usually respond relatively quickly, so fire away!

Until next time, dear readers...

Addressing the Questions

After posting my last entry about taking a break I got a lot of questions via email.  Instead of waiting for me to fully return to my blog to answer them, I thought I should go ahead and do it.

  1. I am taking a break, not quitting.
  2. I will still respond to emails, as time allows.
  3. Yes, there is more currently going on than me writing my book, but lately I’ve been juggling more than usual, but really, who honestly isn’t dealing with 101 problems everyday? Just me? No?
  4. Are you working on that science fiction romance novel about the two cyborgs who fall in love? No. Saving that one for later.
  5. Can I be in your book? Probably not. If you are it’s either a really good thing or a really bad thing. Law of extremes.
  6. Finally, yes, I was serious about the book, and I address super serious topics.
Once again, I will be back, just a brief break.

Until next time, dear readers...

A Short Break

I know it's been a bit since my last entry, I apologize.  I have been working on my book, and it's been taking most of my writing time.  I do appreciate the letters you have sent asking how I'm doing, I'm actually doing quite well, and I've did my best to respond to each one of you personally.

Some of you might be wondering what book I'm talking about, so I'll tell you.  I've been working on for some time my autobiography.  It's about 30% done at the moment and I'm already doing rewrites on some chapters.  I've got two interested publishers, so this time I won't be self publishing.  I will be sending out free ebook versions to some of my readers, but I'll announce more about that in the future.  Again, thanks for your patience right now, I will be back soon!

Until next time, dear readers...

Looking Back

Recently I've been thinking.  I know, probably not the greatest thing for me to do.  Nevertheless, I've been contemplating about making my life a little more private.  I post a lot on this blog, I update a lot on Facebook and Instagram, but am I hurting myself by doing that?  I know of several people who would immediately say "YES!" and I can't really disagree with them.  The only counterpoint I can come up with is that I am probably doing more good than harm.  That is good for others vs harm to myself.  I get a steady stream of emails, texts, facebook messages, etc on how I've motivated someone to do something.  I've had several that honestly have made me tear up reading them.  Those people are the ones that have faced much more than I can imagine, yet see that it doesn't have to always be bad.

Your struggles determine your successes. So, we can derive from that, that you can not be successful at something without facing struggles. I mean it, think about your work, your relationships, and pretty much everything in your life. Those who aren’t successful are usually focused solely on the result. You need to focus and be in love with the process to get there. Want to get your PhD? Be in love with the studing, the research and the constant judgement by your professors and peers. It is all about the process. Want an awesome body? Learn to love the gym time and the diet. If you don’t, you will give up. Fact of life, unfortunately. The unhappy truth in life is not everyone will be successful. I mean, if everyone was, then how would you measure if you were or not?

So what’s wrong with not being successful? Not a thing. What’s wrong with being ordinary? Again, not a thing. It’s the ordinary things in life that are truly special. Spending time with a loved one. Teaching your child to ride a bike. Meeting friends for lunch. It’s totally the normal things that make life love living.  There are those though, who think they have to have to have the best, be the best, and it's not a question if they should, they feel it's their right.  That's called entitlement. There are two two of entitlement, the first goes likes this: I am so much better than everyone else, therefore I deserve special treatment.  The second goes like this: Everyone is so much better than I am, therefore I deserve special treatment.  That's dangerous thinking, the kind that can (and will) alienate everyone in your life. Everyone is special and unique, but that does not mean everyone deserves special treatment.  I mean, if everyone got special treatment, it wouldn't be special, it would just be, well, treatment.

Let me end today's post with this: the things most easily obtained, are the things that are easiest to lose.  What does that mean? Well, the world builds on your insecurities.  Almost all forms of marketing are trying to point out some that is wrong or missing from your life, often things you never thought about until the advertisement was presented to you.  Want to lose weight? Take this pill! Want to have beautiful hair? Try this shampoo!  Do you have a bald spot? We have hair in a spray can!  People get these products because they are insecure about something, and are willing to take the easiest option to try to fix it.  The honest truth is simple. To get something that is lasting, it's going to take a lot of work.  It's going to take a crap ton of time and dedication.  Results aren't always immediate, but they are lasting.  So, if you want it, be prepared to spend a lot of time and a lot of effort into attaining it.  Not only will it last, but you will feel a greater sense of pride and accomplishment for all said hard work.

While I know I was a bit all over the place on topics on this one, I still think that it's a solid post.

Until next time, dear readers...

New Look for 2018

Well, it's been a few years, but I've changed the layout of the blog a bit.  Won't take too long to get used to it.  I've simplified it.  I mean, who needs complication, am I right? Of course I am, as I pointed out in my previous blog post, I'm usually right.

Now, to expound upon that very topic.  Some people thought I was being a little arrogant by saying that.  I wasn't, as a matter of fact, I was saying it as a joke. Satire, if you will.  I'm not usually right.  My daughters and friends will tell you that I say I am a lot - usually after I'm right about something.  Law of averages puts me at being right more often than I am wrong, but truthfully, that doesn't require a large margin to make that claim.  Now, trivia questions, that's a different story.  I am usually right when it comes to trivia. And Batman.

Well, I'm doing another Q&A session on today's post, so here it goes:

Q:  Are you using a personal trainer?
A:  No. Unless you count me.  I dove in head first into the science of nutrition, the mechanics of exercise, and the physiology of muscle development.  A lot of time was spent online and at the library.  They won't let you check out some of the reference material I was utilizing, so the library it was for a while.

Q:  Do you ever miss a day of exercise?
A:  Sure.  Despite the rumors, I'm not perfect.  Life happens and things happen that just can't be avoided.  Honestly I even tried something I hadn't done this past week.  I took an entire week for rest.  It felt like I was doing something wrong, but surprisingly, my first session back at it - I was stronger.  I don't think I'll do this often, but it does support the "Rest is part of the routine" thing.

Whew, that's enough interrogation for today.

I think, to avoid some emails\messages, I'll address the comment I made just a second ago.  I do not think that anyone calls me perfect by any stretch.  It's called sarcasm, and it's an outlet for my emotions.  I use it a lot.  I am the first to admit my faults and flaws, although I might do it with, you guessed it, sarcasm.

Well, that's all I have for this week.  Next week I'm going to address a pretty serious topic, my divorce.

Until next time dear readers...

Changes

Changes.  They can be good or they can be bad.  I have changed the location of my blog to myblogtypething.com - and that's a good change.  I paid for my lunch with a $20, and I got money back - that's also good change.  Unfortunately there is bad change.  Last week my grandmother passed away and that was painful change.  Notice I didn't say it was a bad change, because given time to reflect, it really isn't a bad change.  My grandmother was 80 years old and tired.  She deserved the relief from the pain.

Speaking of changes, the blog has a new address - myblogtypething.com!  I figured this would make it easier for the thousands upon thousands of you that visit everyday.  So, update your bookmarks!

More changes are coming for me, I had shirked off my exercise routine due to being ill (translated dying) but I am getting back in the habit.  I have been able to maintain a lower weight than I have before and some of that weight is now muscle, so I've probably lost more fat weight, but gained muscle weight. Sweet.

For those of you wanting to know where the web series 'Regular Dad' is, don't worry it's in production, it's just taking a bit longer than I anticipated. No worries, you shall be entertained.

As always, I invite you to let me know what I'm doing right, what I'm doing wrong, etc. Email me and let's make this better!

10 Years.

I've not posted in a while, and I'm sorry - but I will have you know that I did have a draft that I kept adding to, but then it got incoherent and rambled on for way too long, so here is this one.

Today (May 29) Lyndsay and I have been married for 10 years. Wow. A lot has happened. We've bought a house, bought cars, sold cars and had three children. It's been a ride, with our ups and downs. It's been worth it, all of it.  From a blind date in high school to 10 years of marriage, it's been fun.  Sure we've gotten bigger, but that's just the newlywed weight gain, we just haven't gotten rid of it. Yep.  Technically we've been together for 15 years, but that's just splitting hairs.

Enough about me, how are you? Did you have a good break from reading my rants? Well, buck up buttercup, I'm back.  Look for a really good episode of Regular Dad coming up. It's awesome.  Don't forget to follow my YouTube channel. Click Here. It's going to be interesting making these videos, I didn't realize how much time went into a short video like this, so hopefully I'll speed up with the production.

Remember, When you feel like your life stinks, think of the Titanic passengers, be glad you didn't go on that boat.

Structure, We All Need It

So here's the deal. Structure.  I've decided that the blog needs a bit more structure.  I am going to try out having regular sections on it, and see how that goes.  Feedback is appreciated and mandatory.

I was looking on Groupon the other day and saw that there is a murder mystery dinner on there.  It's at the Stone Lion Inn in Guthrie.  That is supposed to be one of the most haunted places in Oklahoma.  My interest peaked.  There is something about having my wits scared out of me that is awesome.  This is also the reason I ride with Lyndsay when she drives.  I am on the fence about just getting the tickets and then Lyndsay will feel like she has to go or it will be a waste of money, but as I have just explained about the Inn, odds are good that she will read this and stop me.  If she isn't up for it, would anyone else be?

I have always fancied (yes fancied) myself a brilliant actor with a wide range of acting abilities.  However, after reading about this murder mystery I thought about myself as an actor in it.  I would be be nervous so close to the 'non-actors' (it's what we call them in the biz) that my timing would be all off.  I have created a lovely comic to demonstrate:

See, I'd blame the first child that walked into my line of sight.  I think I'll skip on being an actor at one of these and stick to be an over acting bystander.

The Regular Dad series is going well, I did take a break from it for a few days, but I'm back on it and soon the first episode will make you laugh so hard you might rupture a bladder.  Seriously though, if you do rupture anything while watching or thinking about it, don't blame me, my lawyers Mr. Mason and Mr. Matlock assure me that they can get me out of it in less that 60 minutes.  I'm finding the hardest part so far with creating the series is figuring out how to get the girls to act on command.  Madison especially does not want to be on camera, and Victoria jumps in the camera as soon as it starts recording. Alexandria is neutral most of the time.

Ok, so I'm one more thing to add to today's entry, and that is a thought.  My youngest, Madison, turned 4 on the 12th.  I now am the proud father of 4, 5 and 8 year old girls. Little by little I am coming to terms with my aging, but it occurred to me that in addition to my aging, I have to cope with my daughters aging as well.  Some advice I receive all the time (and on several occasions from complete strangers) is to cherish each moment because you won't get a second chance and they pass so quickly. I have realized it is so true, and everyday with them is a gift, and not everyone gets three gifts a day like I do.  So even with all the yelling, screaming, fighting, and groin hitting (them hitting me of course) I love every minute of it, even if it is not apparent at the time. Being a dad is awesome and heartbreaking.

Ok, so I'm like an Apple Strudel, Crusty and flaky on the outside while sweet and gooey on the inside. I don't have any apple chunks though, I mean unless I've eaten an apple and got sick and barfed up some apple chunks, but I probably won't be sweet when that happens.  Forget the strudel thing.

Thank you everyone for reading, and remember - when life gets you down.  That's it. Just remember it.

Basking in the Glory

First of all, I don't actually bask. The definition is: 'to lie exposed to ..." whatever, it doesn't matter. I just don't lie exposed. anymore. Court Ordered.

The blog will be changing visually over the next few weeks. I'm working on getting the best fit, so until I find it, you will have to suffer. AND you will like it.

Now I would like to take some time to talk about my new web series, Regular Dad. I've gotten a few of them in the old noggin and I'm actually about to release episode 1 and I'm already happy with it. I mean I haven't finalized or rendered the video and I haven't had anyone view it and tell it me it's great, but I'm an optimist.

Speaking of being a dad, this past week I had the honor of taking each of my daughters on a date. I like to take them out and get them a little toy once in a while, so sue me.  I enjoy the daddy daughter time and they enjoy the toy.  I will however, space them out like I used to.  I mean I can't do the whole restaurant and shopping thing 3 nights in a row again. I mean ever. I won't.

I know, it's late, but hey, look at it this way - you get twice as much of me this week. :)

Blog Layout Update

I've decided to change up a few things on the old blog today, make it more... me. If it doesn't work out, I'll do something else, but for now this is how it will be.

The diet goes on, and with it I am hungry. It doesn't help being so busy at work that I don't have time for lunch, or that I usually never eat breakfast. I'll work on making time for eating - I hear it's important.  Post injury I think I'm ready to start trying to workout again, of course now I'm aware I should ease into it instead of being really aggressive. Pictures of progress (if any) will be shared.
